Use this guide to prepare a product enquiry and compare the transformer, reactor or inductor configurations in the OPS catalog. Final selection should use the specifications and drawings for the individual product and your application requirements.
Transformer selection
- Rated power or apparent power, expressed in W, VA or kVA as applicable.
- Primary and secondary voltages, phase configuration and supply frequency.
- Required isolation, winding arrangement, taps and connection details.
- Load type, duty cycle, starting conditions and any relevant current waveform information.
- Installation dimensions, cooling, enclosure and environmental requirements.
Reactor and inductor selection
- Circuit function: AC input, AC output, DC link, harmonic filtering or another specified duty.
- Rated current, inductance and system voltage.
- Operating frequency and switching frequency where relevant.
- Duty cycle, current ripple, transient conditions and thermal requirements.
- Mounting, cooling, dimensions and required drawings.
Compare product families
The catalog separates transformers from reactors and inductors, with individual families for different construction types and circuit functions. A family name helps narrow the selection; verify the electrical ratings of the specific product before ordering.

Drawings and custom requirements
For an application-specific configuration, provide the required electrical ratings, connection or circuit diagram, outline dimensions, installation conditions and any applicable standards. Send existing drawings when available and identify any dimensions or performance requirements that are mandatory.
